Senator Sean Kean, Assembly Republican Whip Dave Rible, and Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini applauded the announcement that the Governor has signed two bills into law that will allocate farmland preservation funding to Wall Township.
"Wall Township is a beautiful community that has a healthy mix of residential homes, businesses, open space and farmland," said Senator Sean T. Kean, a resident of Wall. "I am pleased that Wall will receive farmland preservation funding to continue to preserve this precious open space."
Senate Bill 2894 appropriates $8.831 million from "2009 Farmland Preservation Fund," "2007 Farmland Preservation Fund," and "Garden State Farmland Preservation Trust Fund" for grants to certain nonprofit organizations for farmland preservation purposes, including up to $411,000 for the Monmouth Conservation Foundation’s Conover Farm in Wall Township.
"Farms are important to New Jersey and Wall Township," said Rible. "We are fortunate to have great farms right here in Wall Township and must seek to maintain them and the agricultural history they represent."
Senate Bill 2896 appropriates $39 million from "2009 Farmland Preservation Fund," "2007 Farmland Preservation Fund," and "Garden State Farmland Preservation Trust Fund" to State Agriculture Development Committee for county planning incentive grants. Wall Township is one of 11 municipalities that will benefit from the $1.5 million grant received by Monmouth County.
"I applaud the Governor for working to preserve farms in New Jersey and Monmouth County," said Angelini. "These bills are essential to safeguard these open spaces that provide a better quality of life for our residents."
In addition, under Senate Bill 2896, Monmouth County would also be eligible to compete to receive an additional grant of up to $3 million each from the "competitive grant fund" of $15 million, for a maximum grant award of $4.5 million. |
